Chase Oboe Reeds have been supplying reeds around the country to student oboists since 2005 and they have proved to be reliable and successful reeds. Over the years Chase Oboe Reeds has expanded the levels of reeds it makes and now makes reeds from beginner to professional levels and also makes Reed Blanks for people who like to scrape their own reeds.
Reeds are made out of good quality hand picked cane which is prepared and then tied onto quality staples. They are then scraped to the required thickness. The reeds are of standard length (72mm) and are scraped with a medium length ‘U’ scrape to create a reed that vibrates easily but is also easy to control.
The reeds are made to order to ensure you receive the correct strength reeds. When you place your order you will specify the standard of the oboist the reeds are to be made for. This will mean the reeds can be scraped to the appropriate strength.
The reeds are designed to produce a good, reliable sound and as well as being easy to blow have enough resistance to help ensure the reeds are easy to control and have good intonation. These reeds have been used by my pupils and many other oboists for a number of years and have proven to be very reliable.
